Employees working in confined spaces such as ducts, silos, storage tanks and enclosed drains are covered by several sets of legislation, including The Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 and Management of Health and Safety At Work Regulations 1999. Employers are required to carry out appropriate risk assessments and implement any resulting recommendations.
