Medicals for forklift truck operators are not mandatory, but the Health & Safety Executive advises that each person's fitness for operating a lift truck should be judged individually, and that where the employee is working in particularly demanding circumstances, such as at night or with hazardous materials, DVLA Group 2 medical standards should apply.
Best practice dictates that along with a pre-licensing medical, assessments should take place every five years from the age of 40 and annually after 65. Similarly, following a period of illness or an injury which may affect the operator's fitness to work, a health assessment should take place.
Our FLT medicals cover areas such as hearing tests, sight tests, blood pressure, BMI and diabetes checks; and can be carried out on-site or at one of our clinics.
