Mental health issues are amongst the top causes of sickness absence in the UK, with costs to businesses estimated by the HSE to be around £3.7 billion annually.

Psychological Services

Fostering a culture where employees feel comfortable asking for support with stress and other mental health problems, along with early intervention, is key to minimising the impact on individual employees and your organisation as a whole.

We work with organisations to promote a culture that works to prevent mental health issues and to react appropriately when they do arise. Our workshops on stress management and management referral procedures educate managers in detecting signs of undue pressure and mental ill health, and in accessing occupational health assistance at the earliest opportunity. Similarly, mental health promotion days and events help employees to cope better with pressure and to recognise when and how to ask for help.

Identifying the correct type of intervention required and making it easily available to employees without stigma is critical. For example, where one employee may benefit from access to a health and wellbeing helpline for support with mild levels of stress, this will not be suitable for more severe cases of mental ill health, which may require immediate referral to specialist clinicians such as Chartered Psychologists who have the expertise to deal with these cases and as such will see much better outcomes and subsequently a better return on investment.

We work with clients to provide simple and secure referral procedures via our online case management application, Healthtrak; a combination of remote and face-to-face assessments as required; provision of EAP and mental health helplines; and access to specialists nationwide including our network of 1,000 CBT counsellors.
